STORIES OF IMPACT
Legacies of Giving
At the core of North Carolina A&T’s success is a powerful community of supporters. Their impact extends far beyond financial contributions. They dedicate their time, share their leadership, and create opportunities that enable Aggie student-athletes to excel both on the field and in the classroom.
Darnell & Carolyn Glover
Darnell S. Glover, Sr. and his wife, Carolyn Harris Glover, have made a lasting impact on North Carolina A&T Athletics through years of support and leadership. Darnell, a 1975 A&T graduate and former standout wrestler, was named chairman of the Aggie Athletic Foundation (AAF) board for 2023-24. He has helped raise funds for A&T's athletic programs for many years and is deeply committed to giving student-athletes the resources they need to be successful.
Together, the Glovers helped make possible a new sports performance center located beside Moore Gymnasium. This state-of-the-art facility gives baseball, softball, golf, and cheerleading teams an indoor space to train. It will also be used by Air Force and Army ROTC programs and the Department of Kinesiology for research. Their support includes both funding and a permanent endowment to ensure the center’s future.
Both Darnell and Carolyn graduated from A&T with business degrees, and each built successful careers before dedicating their time and resources to their alma mater. For Darnell, supporting A&T means giving student-athletes the same opportunities and experiences that helped shape his own life. The Glovers’ generosity is a key part of why A&T’s athletic department continues to grow and remain competitive, offering new generations of students access to the kinds of training and support found at top universities. For the Glovers, giving back is about making sure A&T students are supported in every aspect — and about helping A&T remain a place where achievement and opportunity go hand in hand.
Thomas & Berdenia Stanley
Thomas and Berdenia Stanley are dedicated supporters of North Carolina A&T and its athletics, setting an example of giving back and strengthening Aggie Pride. Both alumni, the Stanleys have been involved on the N.C. A&T Board of Visitors and have made significant financial contributions across the university, including to Aggie athletics.
As leaders in engineering and technology, Thomas and Berdenia have used their success to invest in A&T’s future. They established the Stanley & Walker Endowed Scholarship in Engineering, helping students pursue their academic and athletic goals. The Stanleys also contributed to the new Harold L. Martin Sr. Engineering Research and Innovation Complex — where a lounge now bears their name in recognition of their generosity.
Their ongoing commitment to A&T athletics is also clear through their roles in university life, with Berdenia serving on the Aggie Athletic Foundation board. Through their support, the Stanleys are helping to create more opportunities for current and future student-athletes to excel, both academically and on the field.
Their legacy continues as their daughters have chosen A&T, making the Stanley family a multi-generational presence at the university. The Stanleys’ involvement ensures that the spirit and excellence of A&T thrive for years to come, inspiring others to support Aggie athletics and student success.
Geoff & Tonya Foster
Geoff and Tonya Foster have made a lasting impact at North Carolina A&T, both as accomplished professionals and as supporters of Aggie athletics. As alumni and business leaders, they have used their success to invest in the university’s future—especially its student-athletes.
Together, they lead Core Technology Molding Corporation, a globally recognized company known for its commitment to excellence, diversity, and community support. Geoff, a two-time A&T graduate and award-winning entrepreneur, also serves as an adjunct professor and faculty advisor at his alma mater. Tonya, a registered nurse, oversees human resources and safety at Core Technology and helps foster a supportive work environment.
The Fosters have given back to A&T in many ways, including major contributions to the Aggie Athletic Foundation. Their generosity helps provide vital resources and opportunities for current and future student-athletes, strengthening A&T’s athletic programs and overall student experience. Through their involvement, Geoff and Tonya Foster demonstrate the true meaning of Aggie Pride and inspire others to support A&T’s athletics and the broader university community.
Willie Deese
Willie Deese, a proud North Carolina A&T State University graduate from Davidson, NC, has built an extraordinary career as a senior executive in the pharmaceutical industry, most notably retiring as global president of manufacturing at Merck & Co. He’s also served on multiple corporate boards and led the university’s Board of Trustees. Over the years, his generosity and deep commitment to A&T have left an undeniable mark—so much so that the university named its business school, ballroom, and the campus clock tower after him.
Deese has donated nearly $10 million to NC A&T and played a pivotal role as co-chair of its “The Power of Do” capital campaign, helping the university raise over $90 million and aiming for even more. His dedication goes far beyond financial gifts; he’s mentored students, opened doors for future Aggies, and inspired others to give back.
Through the ALL AGGIES, ALL IN campaign for athletics, Deese is working to raise funds that support student-athletes’ academic success and provide for the needs of all of A&T’s sports teams. This is the university’s first campus-wide campaign aimed at athletics, and with Deese’s leadership, it’s gaining strong momentum from donors and alumni. Because of Deese’s commitment, A&T’s athletes have more opportunities to excel both on the field and in the classroom, ensuring the university’s sports programs can thrive well into the future.
