Merrill “Mo” Forte (1947\u20132021) was a distinguished college football coach who led the North Carolina A&T Aggies from 1982 to 1987, compiling a 25-39-1 record. \u201cBefore the Dynasty: The 1986 Aggies Who Set the Standard\u201d<\/h2>\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

During the 1986 season<\/strong>, the North Carolina A&T Aggies football<\/span><\/span> team from North Carolina A&T State University<\/span><\/span> was led by Head Coach Maurice \u201cMo\u201d Forte<\/span><\/span><\/strong>, whose leadership helped guide the program through one of the most important seasons in Aggie football history. Forte built the team around a coaching philosophy rooted in discipline, toughness, and accountability\u2014principles that were essential for competing in the highly competitive Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference<\/span><\/span> (MEAC)<\/strong> during the 1980s. Recruiting at an HBCU during that era required persistence and vision, and Forte successfully identified talented players who embraced the program\u2019s culture of hard work and resilience. Under his direction, the Aggies compiled an impressive 9\u20133 overall record<\/strong>, including a 4\u20131 conference mark<\/strong>, capturing the MEAC Championship<\/strong> and earning a berth in the NCAA Division I-AA playoffs<\/strong>.
